Ash Wednesday - March 2, 2022
About Ash Wednesday
We begin this Holy season of Lent by the imposition of ashes. We acknowledge our need for repentance and for God’s mercy. We are created to experience joy in communion with God, to love one another, and to live in harmony with creation. But our sinful rebellion separates us from God, our neighbors, and creation, so that we do not enjoy the life our creator intended.
When the pastor puts the ashes on our forehead, the following words are said:
Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.
By doing this, we are asking the Almighty God to have mercy on us, to forgive us all our sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, to strengthen us in all goodness, and to keep us in eternal life by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Lenten Services - In the Sanctuary
We will present DRAWN TO THE WORD: the Miracles of Jesus.
Each week we will witness a video beautifully presented by Pastor and Artist Paul Oman. Pastor Oman was with us at Emmanuel for Maundy Thursday three years ago, and will be returning to our Good Friday service this year. Pastor Oman has produced five NEW Drawn to the Word Videos featuring The Miracles of Jesus. These unique videos will bring meaning into meaningless with God’s Word made visual.
This series of five video messages, each 12-14 minutes in length, feature the following Miracles of Jesus:
- March 9 – Jesus Heals the Gerasene Demoniac (Mark 5:1-20)
- March 16 – Jesus Raises Jairus’ Daughter & Heals the Woman with the Flow of Blood (Mark 5:21-43)
- March 23 – Jesus Feeds the 5000 & the 4000 (Mark 6:30-44 & Mark 8:1-10)
- March 30 – Jesus Heals a Man Born Blind (John 9:1-41)
- April 6 – Jesus Raises Lazarus From The Dead (John 11:1-44)
Please mark your calendars for these services. You will be richly blessed!
