What to Expect
Emmanuel Lutheran is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. On any Sunday morning, however, you will find people from almost every church body and denomination in worship. We love that! Our members come from Roman Catholic and Missouri-Synod Lutheran backgrounds; from Baptist and Presbyterian churches; from Pentecostal and Episcopal congregations. They all find a church home at Emmanuel because our fellowship and worship is centered in Jesus Christ and his message of Good News for us through his cross and resurrection.
You will notice that our worship services are diverse: liturgical, blended, contemporary, traditional; sometimes we use praise bands and children’s choirs, sometimes organ, adult choirs and soloists. Each of our services is different so we hope you find the right time and the style of worship that is most meaningful to you. One of our services is even bilingual (Spanish and English at 11:30 a.m.)!
Our Sunday ministry for children is vibrant and growing (11:00 a.m.). There’s a special gathering for every age group, including confirmation classes. Your kids will love it.
There is so much to experience and discover at Emmanuel. We want to welcome you into our community because you are valued by God and called to serve your neighbor in this world. Our commitment is to encourage and support you in your relationship with God, the Christian community, and with your service to this world. Come and join us! We would love to welcome you into the Emmanuel family this Sunday.
Summary of Lutheran Teaching at Emmanuel
Our Confession of Faith identifies Jesus and the Good News of the Gospel as the true Word of God for life and salvation. They are central. This Word of God is authoritatively witnessed to by the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments. The Bible is important at Emmanuel. We encourage people to read and study it daily. In addition, we recognize the Lutheran Confessional Writings as faithful, authoritative teachings of Jesus and this Gospel.
We try to summarize these teachings in modern language. We focus on five teachings:
- Discipleship: Everyone is welcome!
- Vocation and God’s Economy: Everybody has something to offer. You are claimed and called into God’s Story.
- Confess the Faith: Jesus is Lord! And Jesus is MY Lord.
- Christ and Gospel Centered: Love changes people!
- Mission: The world needs what we’ve been given.
