SUNDAY FORUM: 2 Billion Christians worshipped on Easter! Thank you Council of Nicea!

The month of May marks the 1700 anniversary of the Council of Nicea. At that council they decided that all Christians should worship on the same Sunday for Easter. That’s where the story gets crazy.

Come to the Sunday Forum and discover the amazing story of how, finally, 2 billion Christians celebrated Easter last week - together.

THURSDAY BIBLE STUDY: Confession and Absolution in Luther’s Small Catechism. The meeting discussed the significance of the Council of Nicea's 1700th anniversary, coinciding with a rare occasion where 2 billion Christians celebrated Easter on the same day. Richard Bliese explained the historical context, including the Julian and Gregorian calendars and Pope Francis's final act leading the Easter service. The conversation then shifted to the practice of confession and absolution in Christianity, comparing Roman Catholic and Lutheran traditions. Personal experiences and the importance of confession in spiritual growth and forgiveness were shared, emphasizing the power of words and the role of individual and communal confession in maintaining a healthy spiritual life. Notes from Today’s Class.
