Emmanuel Park Updates
BURYING THE ALLELUIAS: Last Sunday, March 2, Deacon Dee and the children burried the “Alleluias” for lent. It has been a tradition with the children at Emmanuel Park Church to bury their Alleluias the last Sunday before Lent begins.
Our children placed their Alleluias in a box and placed them in a hole in the ground next to the pavilion. On Easter Sunday we will resurrect the Alleluias.
This tradition dates all the way back to the Middle Ages when a scroll containing the word was removed from the church. As tradition goes we will not sing or say Alleluia until Easter. There is no scriptural reference for this however we have chosen to abstain from this word of praise during the season of Lent. Lent is a somber time as we acknowledge our sins and look with great anticipation to the message of forgiveness and eternal life in the Resurrection of Jesus on Easter.
LAST WEEK’S BARBECUE AFTER SERVICE ON SUNDAY WAS A HUGE SUCCESS: We had a fantastic time at our barbecue after church last Sunday! Fifty-one people joined us for a wonderful afternoon of food, fellowship, and fun. The weather was perfect, and André’s grilled chicken and steak were a big hit. It was a joy to connect, share a meal, and enjoy great company together!

REFRESHING THE PARK: In our efforts to continually improve there have been some very obvious and significant improvements at the Park. Over the past two weeks, we have refinished the wood (sanding, conditioning, staining and sealing) of the playground and picnic tables, as well as two truckloads of mulch for the playground surface and the front of the Welcome Center. Over the past months, we have added shade trees to the site, particularly along our roadway, to begin to grow a canopy of shade that will develop over time.
We are excited that the park is used by so many in the community and it is a gathering spot for our members.
2025 LENT AT EMMANUEL - “GIVING UP” : Lent is a season of reflection, repentance, and renewal. It is a time when we journey with Christ to the cross, letting go of the things that hinder our faith and opening ourselves to God's grace. This Lent, we invite you to embrace the theme "Giving Up". God would like to help and guide us to give up control, expectations, superiority, enemies, and our lives. Join us on this journey - see you in worship!
This week, we invite you to embrace the theme "Giving Up Control”. Giving up control to God is an act of faith that involves trusting God's plan for your life. It can be a way to find peace and hope. You can give up control to God through prayer and meditation. Be patient and trust that God has a plan for you. Surrender your worries by asking God for guidance and strength, and seek peace in His love. Ebrace the unexpected and let go of the desire to control every aspect of your life.
