Community Care Updates

As we prepare for our annual Stephen Ministry Sunday, this March 23rd, I am thinking about this bible verse: “I am the good shepherd, I know my own, and my own know me. And I lay down my life for the sheep.”  John 10: 14-115

Let us ask ourselves how well we know Jesus.  Do we have just a slight acquaintance with Him? Do we keep in touch with Him sporadically?  Or…are we blessed with a close, daily personal relationship with Jesus, listening to Him in His Word and talking with Him in prayer each day?   Do we desire Him to walk with us into every aspect of our lives?

A Stephen Minister acts quietly and compassionately, letting Jesus lead the way in our ministry, providing comfort and the space for God to address issues.   The course in Stephen Ministry reminds us that we are ALL broken people, and He will give us the “…desires of our hearts..” if we share with Him.    It can be challenging for us to share what we are going through with friends or family. They don’t always fully understand without judgment. But there is NO RISK with sharing our struggles with Jesus. He already knows it all --- the joys, the morning thoughts, our moments of struggle where we feel alone in sadness or illness or worry about a loved one. Maybe you have a new medical issue that is a puzzle for you and your family and the caregivers, or a new living situation – a recent loss, or perhaps living alone – without someone to sit with you in the quiet and pray.

Our Stephen Ministers are available to meet with you in your home – for a moment of Scripture, a few minutes of deep listening, or even to bring you or your loved one Holy Communion.   Nothing is solved without Jesus.   A Stephen Minister walks with Jesus to be by your side – for as short or long as you need it!
