LECTIONARY PLUS: Prepare for Worship This Sunday.

This Week’s Readings: Colossians 1:11-20, Jeremiah 23:1-6 and Luke 23:33–43.

This Sunday’s readings offer a powerful juxtaposition of stories—and on Christ the King Sunday, they invite us to see Jesus’ kingship in a new light. We learn three central themes: the importance of relationships in Jesus’ reign as King, how we respond in moments of pain and humiliation, and the ultimate truth that Jesus is King. Together, these stories reshape and redefine what true kingship looks like.

In this week’s video, Pastor Lillejord reflects on how Jesus saves us through the cross. He takes our place, and His actions speak louder than words. Through His sacrifice, Jesus frees us from sin and gives us peace, forgiveness, and the promise of everlasting life.

Watch the video, then join Pastor Lillejord this Sunday to hear his sermon on this Christ the King Sunday.

THURSDAY BIBLE STUDY IS ON A BREAK UNTIL FEBRUARY
The Bible Study is on a break until February. When they reconvene they will be discussing the book “A Beginners Guide to Holy Friday: Witness at the Cross” by Amy-Jill Levine. Reading this book allows you to experience Holy Friday from the perspective of those who watched Jesus die: Mary his mother; the Beloved Disciple from the Gospel of John; Mary Magdalene and the other women from Galilee; the two men, usually identified as thieves, crucified with Jesus; the centurion and the soldiers; Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus. Jews and Romans, friends and strangers, the powerful and the powerless, the hopeful and the despairing. Each Gospel has its own story to tell, all the witnesses have their own memories, and every reader comes away with a new insight. The witnesses at the Crucifixion watch Jesus die, and we watch with them, and we watch them. And we come away transformed.
