Education at Emmanuel

LECTIONARY PLUS: Prepare for Worship This Sunday.

This Week’s Readings:
Isaiah 35:1-10 • Isaiah 12:2-6 • Matthew 11:2–11 • Luke 3:7-18

This third week of Advent, we explore the deep and enduring reality of Joy. In baptism, we are claimed as children of God—and with that identity comes an important question: “What should we do?”

Scripture reminds us that there are ways we are called to live, act, and love as God’s people.

Join us this Sunday as Pastor Lillejord preaches on Luke 3:7–18 and unpacks what joyful, faithful living looks like in this season of anticipation.

THIS WEEK’S SUNDAY FORUM! Islam: A Religion of Peace or Conflict?

This Sunday we continue our four-part Advent series, “Living Among the World’s Religions.” This week we continue with a discussion with a thoughtful look at Islam and about understanding our Muslim neighbors.

Together, we’ll explore important questions: What is Islam? Is it a religion of peace? Why do Christianity and Islam share so much in common, yet often find themselves in conflict?

Our discussion will highlight both the shared beliefs and the historical tensions between the two faiths. We’ll also hear directly from Muslims in the accompanying video to better understand their perspectives and the rich history of Islam.

Join us Sunday at 10:15 AM in the Community Room as we grow in knowledge, understanding, and compassion through explanation of the Islamic beliefs.

HAPPY HOUR RETURNS MONDAY, DECEMBER 15!

On Monday, December 15, at 4:00 PM ET, we will have a Zoom Happy Hour where we will discuss Sunday’s Sermon, The Chosen (“Holy Night” episode - available on Amazon Prime), and the wine of the week, Prosecco.
