ASH WEDNESDAY AT EMMANUEL AT OIL WELL ROAD
Ash Wednesday at Emmanuel Church at Oil Well Road was a beautiful and meaningful day of worship and service. We began the day at 11:45 AM with a brief service under the Pavilion, including the imposition of ashes. Following the service, ashes and blessings were offered to our food distribution volunteers and to members of our community who came to receive food.
Maria, one of our dedicated volunteers, assisted by offering blessings in the language of those receiving ashes, helping ensure everyone felt welcomed and included. In total, more than 500 people received ashes throughout the day.
Later that evening, 43 people gathered once again under the Pavilion at 6:00 PM for worship, the imposition of ashes, a shared meal, and the meaningful tradition of burying the alleluias as we entered the season of Lent.
It was a powerful day of prayer, hospitality, and community, reminding us of God’s presence among us as we journey together through Lent.
