Education at Emmanuel

LECTIONARY PLUS: Join Pastor Rick and Pastor Lillejord for this week’s Lectionary Plus as they dive into Deuteronomy and Luke. Moses reminds the people that there are no “gray areas” when it comes to following God, while Luke challenges us to consider the weight of our choices. Together, these passages invite us to reflect on what it truly means to be a disciple—standing up for those without a voice and walking alongside the lost and marginalized.

Watch the video to reflect and prepare your heart for Sunday’s sermon.

THIS WEEK’S SUNDAY FORUM: Alligator Alcatraz - a Religious Response.

This new detention facility here in Florida has created quite a backlash in the religious community since its announcement over the 4th of July. What are religions saying? And why?

Watch the video to enhance your conversation on Sunday at 10:15 in the Learning Center with Pastor Rick Bliese.

ZOOM HAPPY HOUR: This Monday, September 8, at 4:00 PM, join us on Zoom as we continue our four-part series “Jonathan and Jesus” with episode 4. This series is about the actor who plays Jesus in The Chosen.

We’ll also take time to discuss Sunday’s sermon.

Wine of the Week: White Burgundy.

To prepare for Zoom Happy Hour on Sept. 15, please watch the movie Jesus Revolution.

Don’t miss this engaging time of fellowship and faith!

THURSDAY BIBLE STUDY EACH WEEK AT 10:30 AM.
In today’s class we continued with Part 2, chapters 24, 25 and 26 of Rob Bell’s book, “What is the Bible”. The main focus was on biblical interpretation, particularly the human and divine aspects of the Bible. Rob Bell's methodology emphasizes starting with the human side to understand the divine message, while Tim Keller argues for focusing on Jesus.
