Synod Assembly and Holy Spirit Retreat Recap
A WEEK OF LEARNING, FELLOWSHIP, AND FAITH
Last week, Emmanuel staff and members participated in two meaningful events that strengthened both our connections and our faith: the Florida-Bahama Synod Assembly in Kissimmee, Florida, and the Alpha Holy Spirit Retreat.
Pastors David Lillejord, Rick Bliese, and José Lebrón, along with Deacon Nieves Lebrón, attended the Synod Assembly, joining leaders from congregations throughout the Florida-Bahama Synod for worship, learning, and the business of the church.
Pastor Lillejord attended his first Synod Assembly since joining Emmanuel and shared, "Being new to the synod, it was nice to see how the business of the church is done in this part of the country. The Florida-Bahama Synod is strong, vital, and well run. It was also nice to meet new people and see the many things we have in common."
While at the Assembly, Pastor Lillejord and Pastor Bliese attended a dinner hosted by Howard Isaacson and Emmanuel Lutheran Global Seminary for students and friends of the seminary. The gathering included current and former students, including recent graduate and newly ordained pastor Beatrice D'Angelo. The evening was filled with laughter, fellowship, and the sharing of stories and experiences.
Meanwhile, closer to home, 21 participants from Emmanuel's Alpha Bible Study gathered for their Holy Spirit Retreat. A highlight of the Alpha experience, the retreat provided an opportunity for participants to share a meal, reflect on what they have learned so far, and deepen their understanding of the Holy Spirit's work in their lives. The retreat offered an opportunity to reflect on God's presence and activity in our lives and to grow in trust, prayer, and discipleship.
We give thanks for these opportunities to learn, grow, and build relationships as we continue our journey of faith together.
